Do You Use PLR Content in Your Business?

write

plr contentOne of the biggest tools I use for helping me with building my websites is by using PLR content.  PLR, is an acronym that stands for “Private Label Rights”.  An author, typically a top writer, will write a set of articles and sell them in a bundle or pack.  They will license these article for personal use.

How to Use PLR Content

Problably the quickest and easiest way to use PLR content is to use it to build your list.  Since these will be articles you’ll be emailing people, you don’t have to worry about re-writing the content.  Just stick it in your auto responder, like Aweber and you are done.

You can can also post PLR to your website.  I would highly recommend re-writing the article before you do but it’s not a requirement. Hey, it’s your website you can do whatever you want with it! :-) From my experience some duplicate content will not hurt you in the SERPs.  But don’t over do it.  Be sure to strive to have as much unique content on your site as possible.

You can re-write the content for article directories.  This is still a great way to get back links to your web site. But remember article directories like EzineArticles are very picky and you will need to rewrite your article to be at least 90% unique.

Compile all of the articles in an eBook and give it away as an insentive for people to subscribe to your mailing list.

Create an eBook and sell it on the Amazon.com kindle store.  Be sure you have writes to this.  Many authors may only restrict the usage of the content to blogs. But this is a nice way to make some extra income..

But surprisingly not many people take advantage of PLR content.

Many people would rather just hire a writer to write unique articles rather than go to the trouble of buying PLR articles and having them re-written.  For me, I love using PLR articles.  It make the re-writing process so much easier, and since the original article started off as a really GREAT article, my re-write will usually turn out great too!

Finding good PLR Content can be a challenge.

If you do a google search you can find A LOT of PLR content.  But most of it is extremely overused and poorly written.  Finding a good PLR writer can be difficult.  I have a select few PLR writers that I use almost exclusively in my business.

My favorite PLR

Ruth Pound’s NetPLR

Ruth is a fantastic writer who constantly amazes me with her PLR content.  Ruth’s website is NetPLR.com.  Ruth even offers a service where she will rewrite her PLR by hand so that you can be assured of having quality unique content for your web project.  Ruth also has a PLR membership club (I am a member of) where every month you get new PLR content for the “niche of the month”.

Ruth also has a great deal every Friday where she will give away a free PLR article.  This is a great way to get familiar with her work.  I personally love her work and highly recommend her!

Nicole Dean’s EasyPLR

Nicole is a great friend who I got to finally meet and hang out with at Practical Profits in Orlando.  Nicole is one of the best in the business.    Nicole has a very successful business writing and selling very good high quality PLREASYPLR.com has a huge selection of PLR content for various niche markets.

When I asked Nicole how she suggests someone could use PLR content she had this to say:

The life of an internet marketer revolves around one thing: Content. You need articles for your blog, more great content for your newsletter or ezine, and even more quality articles if you plan to do article marketing or guest blogging to get free advertising for your website. So, before you throw in the towel completely, let me share a few ideas with you that may help you to actually have time away from your computer.

When looking for articles, you have several options. I personally recommend that you use several of these suggestions to add a variety of content to your websites.

I’ll start with a few of my favorites…

Grab some Free Reprint Articles at the Directories.

Article directories like EzineArticles.com, LadyPens.com and ArticleBase.com are packed with quality articles that you can reprint on your site. The only requirements are that you do not edit the article in any way and that you include the author’s resource box (or bio) at the end including the link or two that the author has included to his/her website.

It’s a win-win situation. The author gets free advertising. You, the publisher, get free content.

There are three negatives to using this type of article.

  • First is the issue of duplicate content. You’re sharing the same exact articles as everyone else that uses that directory. This is not a big deal at all if you’re using the article in your ezine, obviously, since duplicate content is only an issue with the search engines. It’s also not a huge issue for your blog or website, as long as you write an introduction to the article, and preferably a wrap-up statement or recommendation at the end.
  • Second is the very difficult issue of finding quality content. Gone are the days of grabbing any old free reprint article. You want Expert Content only – and many of the article directories have “bleck” articles.
  • Third is the issue of posting those darn links in the author resource box. You’re basically advertising for someone else for free. Ouch.

Good news! I can help you with the free advertising part in the next section of this article.

Use Extra-Special Free Reprint Articles.

Oftentimes ebook owners and other marketers with affiliate programs offer articles with a twist. You get to replace the link(s) in the author resource box with YOUR affiliate link for that program.

Here you’ll find many articles that meet that criteria:  http://freeaffiliatearticles.com/wp/

OR, if your favorite Experts regularly offer reprint articles, ask if this is an option for you.

That way, the expert still gets free advertising. And, you, the publisher, still get great content. But, you can also benefit by earning affiliate commissions as well.

This model definitely adds an increased level of appeal compared to traditional reprint articles. Wouldn’t you agree?

Write the Articles Yourself.

You can choose to write some of your web content yourself. I highly recommend that you do write much of your own content, at least on the sites where you’re trying to establish yourself as an authority.

However, there are options below that will enable you to post quality content to your website without having to write all of it yourself. (Some you can just edit and use.)  The difference in the options below is that YOU become the expert, rather than endorsing someone else as the expert.

Hire a Quality Ghostwriter or Copywriter.

A ghostwriter is a freelancer who writes for you (usually articles or reports), but you take the credit.

A copywriter specializes in writing copy that sells, and you usually take the credit.

There are many sites on the web where you can find writers. Start by asking around, or go to sites like elance.com (a job posting site) or Shelancers.com (a directory of freelancers) to look around. Having a ghostwriter on hand can keep your blog fresh and active.

Our Favorite Shortcut: Stock up on PLR articles.

PLR articles stands for Private Label Rights articles. PLR articles are usually written by a ghostwriter and sold to several website owners. This means that you (and a limited number of other bloggers) can edit the articles and publish them without being required to link back to anyone or give anyone credit for writing them. You become the expert when using PLR articles.

Customize the articles, tweak them for your market, insert examples or photos or case studies and publish them on your website — or just use them as they are. Either way, you gain a lot of flexibility when working with PLR. Not only that but they are very affordable.

So, How do you Find a Good PLR Service?

Simple. Find a PLR site that’s been around for awhile and offers professionally-written and edited content that’s sold in limited quantities. That will ensure that you’re not getting recycled PLR, but are getting your hands on top-quality content.

Our Recommendation for Top Quality PLR, Sold in Very Limited Quantities:

EasyPLR.com has been offering the best niche plr article packs on the web since 2006.

-        Great reputation. Thousands of happy, repeat customers over the years.

Good Content is NOT Hard to Find

Whenever you decide to build a business online, whether it’s one blog or a whole bunch of web sites, you find yourself needing good content. And many times you need a lot of good content. Remember your blog isn’t the only content you need to worry about, don’t forget about your email list!!

When I say content, this can can be anything from articles, pictures, audio mp3′s, video’s or just about anything in between. But for todays topic I’m mainly referring to articles… good articles.

But where do you find good content to put on your blog or web site?

There are three ways to get good content. You can either write or create the content yourself, outsource the content or use PLR content and rewrite or edit it.

For articles and blog posts, when I’m stuck and having trouble thinking up good articles to write about, I always turn to PLR content, wait, let me clarify that… well written PLR content. I do this for a couple different reasons.

  • A good PLR writer will have limited copies sold
  • Good PLR lets me get a jump start on good writing
  • Good PLR is well thought out and researched
  • It’s also usually well formatted and well paced

One of my favorite PLR authors/businesses is Nicole Dean and EASYPLR.com.  She is absolutely the best! Not only does she provide some great PLR content but also provides some excellent tips and advise from her own blog.

Her latest post on her blog discusses taxes and how to reduce your taxable income.  This is so important to home business/internet business.

To give you an example of the great writing Nicole does, she has graciously agreed to write a guest post for us today.

So without further ado… let me introduce Nicole Dean!!!

When Life Gets Crazy – How to Connect with Your Lists
When you Don’t Have Time To

by Nicole Dean

Life is madness. At least in my house it is. People are always asking me “Nicole, you have 2 kids, 2 dogs, you take in foster dogs, have a husband who you actually like, and you run several very successful online businesses. What in the HECK?!”

I think there’s a compliment in there somewhere.

The things that I do in my business every day fall under four areas…

Growing my List and Connecting with my Readers

  1. Increasing my Traffic
  2. Building Relationships on my Own Blog
  3. Developing my Products and my Other Offers (like PLR stuff, and private coaching and consulting)

Anything that doesn’t fall directly under those four areas must be put aside until I’ve tackled those.

Now obviously, I could write an entire report about this, so in this post, I’ll focus in on your mailing list.

Your list is your livelihood. At least it can be with some love. However, it takes time to write your newsletters or connect with your list, in general. And, coming up with ideas on a regular basis can be brutal.

Life happens. (Thank goodness!) So, you need some shortcuts for when you just don’t have time or don’t necessarily feel inspired to connect with your lists.

Here’s where the magic happens. I have tons of tricks, but I’ll just start with three ideas to get you off and running.

  1. Outsourcing
  2. Planning and Batching
  3. PLR articles

OUTSOURCING PARTS OF THE PROCESS.

First of all, outsourcing. There are several ways you can outsource when it comes to your list.

If you have a virtual assistant (or a teenager in your house), write and send an article to him/her and have that person compile your newsletter for you. A side benefit is that it will require you to plan in advance, which can be a very good thing.

You can also hire a virtual assistant to seek out articles in places like EzineArticles.com or LadyPens.com that you can use in your newsletter, rather than having to do it all yourself. Find a few authors that you like (who are considered experts in their fields) and just have your virtual assistant grab one of their articles whenever you’re behind.

Recommended Resource:

  • I teach a course on Outsourcing since so many people have asked me how I do it so well.

PLANNING AND BATCHING.

Second, let’s dig into planning a bit. I find it much easier to plan a month at a time or more than to sit down in front of the computer and try to brainstorm. Can you plan a series of emails to send to your readers?

Perhaps a set like “7 Ways to …” That way you’re set for at least the next seven emails. If you look at my ecourse above “Outsourcing Mistakes to Avoid” – you’ll see how I used a series to create that ecourse. You can model yours after that one.

PLR ARTICLES.

PLR articles can be such a huge shortcut. If you’re not using them yet, you are in for a treat!

Here’s a definition of PLR (in case you aren’t familiar with it):

Let’s talk about how useful this is. I mean, honestly. Let’s say your niche is romance. If you purchase a set of ten PLR articles, you have everything you need for 10 newsletters immediately – and, guess what? You can reuse them again the following year or year after.

Not only do you not have to come up with titles, you don’t have to even draft the articles yourself.

Simply copy and paste the articles into your newsletter, tweak them to have some of YOU in them – either by including examples, personal stories, or some of your own tips and ideas, and you’re set.

Recommended Resource:

I started one of the most highly regarded PLR sites on the web back in 2006 and made it my personal goal to change the PLR industry for the better. I like to think that I’ve accomplished my goal.

See for yourself here: Quality PLR Articles

Now, the next time you’re thinking “I really need to send something to my lists, but what?” you don’t have to panic now that you have these shortcuts at your disposal.

Thanks so much for reading! Please share your thoughts below.

Warmly,

Nicole Dean

What Are PLR Articles and What Can You Do with Them?

writer-pen

plr articlesI’ve been using PLR content for a while, either when I’m in a bind and need some content quickly, or I need some help with one of my news letters, or I simply need some content for the article directories.

Good PLR content is not easy to find. Much of it is old and way over sold – which seriously dilutes is value. One writer who is fantastic and that I have had the pleasure of using her PLR Content is Nicole Dean! She constantly and consistently writes exceptional content for many popular niches.  I’ve been using her stuff for years and I’m proud to have been given the opportunity to feature her with this guest (PLR) post. Enjoy!

What Can You Do With PLR Articles?

by Nicole Dean

You may have seen the term Private Label Rights or PLR articles
being tossed around frequently lately. PLR articles are articles you
can buy (usually in packages or as part of a membership) that you may
edit and use as you wish. Unlike free reprint articles, you are not
required to link back to anyone else’s website which makes them
appealing to many web publishers.

Once you understand the concept behind PLR articles, you can see
why they are appealing. Most people can envision the value of adding
the articles to their websites. But, did you know there are more ways
to use PLR articles than that?

1. Add them to your blog.

Similar to adding PLR articles to your website, you can take
excerpts and use them on your blog for fresh content. Whether you take
a portion and use it as a “tip of the day” or use the entire article,
PLR articles can be a huge time saver for you.

2. Send them in your newsletter.

Need content for your newsletter? PLR articles are an option. Of
course, if you’re developing a relationship with your readers, you may
wish to edit the articles to make them your own voice. However, you can
pull a section from a PLR article – use it as inspiration — and whip
out a newsletter in minutes.

3. Start an ecourse

If you purchase a package of PLR articles based on a theme, it’s
quite easy to turn them into an ecourse simply by adding them to your
autoresponder. Something as simple as “Five Ideas for Kids Lunches” can
become a 5 day ecourse to grow a big newsletter list.

4. Use them in your podcast

Take a PLR article and use it as inspiration for a podcast. Add the content and you’re done.

5. Send them in a print mailing

Direct mailing is huge. If you have a list of postal mailing
addresses, put together a free report from PLR articles and send it
out.

6. Create a special report

Simply bulk together some PLR articles that have the same topic,
and make them flow into a special report. Turn it into a pdf file and
give it away to your website visitors.

See how easy that is?

The only hard part is finding a high quality PLR service
that fits your niche. Look around. Make sure the
PLR package or membership you choose provides you with high quality
articles so you can create something you’ll be proud of.

Nicole Dean welcomes you to check out EasyPLR.com – where you’ll find high-quality PLR articles on niches sold in very limited quantities.

I highly recommend this PLR site for the best PLR on the web.

PLR Content

Hey everyone! I’m back. Sorry for the break in posts but my family and I had to take a break and check out the beach for a week… It was awesome! If you ever get a chance to see South Padre Island you should do it!

So the next thing I wanted to talk about is Content and more specifically PLR Content.  When I first started doing this I had heard of PLR Content, but had no idea what “PLR” was!  So hopefully I can shed some light on this.

The Need for Content

It wasn’t long after I had several BANS sites up and running and making a little money did I realize that I needed content! But I’m not a writer and I really don’t like to write.  Even if I did, where would I get the time to write?  I needed more than just affiliate links and ads on the new websites.  Even more than that I wanted a way to keep visitors around longer or have a way to draw people to the web sites who weren’t necessarily shopping.

PLR Content

I had read about the use of PLR Content – I actually had to go to Wikipedia to find out what the “PLR” in PLR Content meant — lol.  SO to spare you all – PLR Content is “Private Label Rights Content”.  Basically meaning you have the right to publish the content as is, change the content, re-write the content, slap your name on the content, etc. When you buy PLR Content you buy the rights to do just about whatever you want with the content – sans resell it again as your own.. that would be Master Resell Rights.. but I’ll save that for another post.

Buyer Beware

You need to know upfront, there is some absolutely horrible PLR Content out there. Be very careful who you get your content from. Some PLR companies outsource the writing of content to non-English speaking countries and the result is less than what you may expect. Always ask for a sample article or some example of their work before buying. There are two excellent sources I have used – one is PLR PRo. These Aussie boys have got a very large PLR operation but always put out excellent PLR Content. Another writer who is excellent is Nicole Dean and EasyPLR. If neither of these folks have what your looking for you can always look out on the Digital Point Forums. There are lots of great writers out there who will come highly recommended.

Tips on PLR Content

If you decide to use PLR Content you should never post the content as is to your website. Many of the search engines check for duplicate content, and if someone else has posted the same PLR article that you do you PLR Process graphiccould lose serious ranking in the search engines or worse lose your indexing completely.

The bare minimum you should do when you get your content is to re-write the first and last paragraphs as well as the title the article. This is a very easy thing to do and will keep you from being penalized by Google or Yahoo for duplicate content. Also, this may sound silly but read the article before you post it to your website. You may be amazed at some of the errors you might find.

The PLR Process

If you would like to learn more about using PLR Content and the PLR process check out this free eBook from the folks at PLR PRoThe PLR PRocess. Its an excellent read and will cover most all part of using PLR Content on your website.

You will need adobe acrobat reader to view this file.
