Most Internet Marketing Products Suck – Get a Refund!

There is a lot of hype out there, especially in many Internet Marketing circles.  Lots of people selling magic systems and special formula’s to help you get rich quick or at the very least make money online.  But how can you tell the good products from the bad hyped up products.  Today’s post is about Internet Marketing products that suck and how to separate the  creme from the crap.

Most people who begin to start any kind of business online or try to setup any website will no doubt find themselves receiving emails promising the world.  From free reports to now free training video’s, everyone wants to get to know you and everyone seems to be able to help you.  All you have to do is simply fill in your name and email and salvation can be yours.

The majority of the Internet Marketing products being pandered about on the web are simply crap.  Most are just re-hashed reports transcribed from someone else’s tele-seminar in order to get you on their email list.

Now don’t get me wrong – there isn’t anything wrong with trading an email for some free information.  I do it all the time and it helps me get to know the author of the report and possibly develop a friendship.  What bothers me is when this relationship escalates to a sale of an email course, eBook, video course, access to a membership forum or whatever…  and the product is just junk.

If you find yourself in a situation like this, don’t just take it and loose your money.  Contact the author and GET A REFUND!  If the product sucks, then don’t be afraid to fire up an email and ask for your money back.  98% of the information products available online come with a 30-60 day money back, iron clad, no questions asked, even if its 3:00 am in the morning guarantee.   If that’s the case then exercise your right to get your money back.

One way to make sure you get good useful information is to simply visit the author’s blog, leave comments and start a conversation that way. Many blog owners will end a blog post asking if anyone has questions.  And many blogs will link back to your website just for helping add to the conversation.  This is a great way to get to know more experienced marketers and help your own website ranking at the same time.

Another way is to visit some Internet Marketing forums. There are many great forums with a ton of information and advice from their members.  If you have a question about a particular product simply post a question in one of these forums. There are always friendly people that are more than willing to help.

Here is a list of some really good and free Internet Marketing Forums:

How Soltaire Showed Me the Secret to Succeeding in Business

Have you ever played the game solitaire? Its a card game where you play by yourself (hence the name solitaire). The game involves laying cards out on the table with a goal of sorting them numerically. It can be a frustrating game that you certainly loose most of the time. So, if you know your going to loose, then why play the game at all? Is it the thrill of the chase? Is it the thrill of chance? Or is it simply the fact that you KNOW eventually you WILL win? In my mind this is the exact belief you need to have when you start a business.

Starting a business isn’t an easy task. Even as easy and as cheap as it is starting a online internet based business, it can still be very daunting. The fear of failure alone is enough to paralyze most people from even beginning to start a business. And if you let that fear consume you, you never start.  If that happens you HAVE certainly failed.  The key is to just start and see where it leads you.

Like in Solitaire, you know you may loose but if you never start you will never know if you would have won.

I have started multiple online and offline businesses. So far every single one of them have failed. In the late 90’s I started a free web based email service that was similar to Hotmail or Yahoo mail at the time. I had 45,000 email accounts in my system running out of my bedroom on small server I built from scratch. All of this was running through a Comcast cable modem. Well, eventually Comcast found out and banned me from their system. I literally became a server gypsy toting my email server from one friends house to another. I didn’t’ have the money for hosting which at the time was around $200/mo and Paypal didn’t exist, so there wasn’t any way to monetize the site. Needless to say that business was doomed.

Thinking back to when I was kid, I tried to start a lawn mowing business and that one failed too. There were many others too.  I tried to start a hosting business, an IT consulting business, and a software reseller business. Each one failed.  So why did I keep going? Because I knew eventually I would win.

Its not a matter of can you succeed, it is a matter of when you succeed.

Today, I run a small affiliate marketing business. It doesn’t make much much money, honestly last year it made around $6000. Its not much but the business IS making money and every single cent that comes in gets re-invested back into my business.

And this business may eventually fail too. eBay, Google, or Amazon.com may change and those affiliate checks may stop coming in. But that’s okay, because each step of the way I’m learning, and each time I’m getting better.

In business, just like in Solitaire, if I keep playing, I’m patient, and persistent, I know I will win… and you can too. You’ve just gotta play to win.

The Best Spinner Review – Is it the BEST spinner? – Plus 1 More

I’ve been putting off writing this review to let some of the hype die down a bit.   If your email box is anything like mine, last week it was lit up with everyone talking about The Best Spinner from Jon Leger.  Today I want to tell you guys my experience with this article spinning/writing tool and if it’s worth the annual $47/year recurring cost.

Created 40 articles in under an hour!

The first time I used The Best Spinner, straight out of the zip file, I was able to take 2 articles in two separate niches and spin them both into 20 articles each.  I did this in the space of about an hour for the whole thing.  Each article was spun to about a 70% unique state which is fantastic.

The interface of The Best Spinner is very easy to use. You simply paste in your article text, tell it to identify all synonyms, and from there you can begin the very easy process of creating the spinning syntax (a fancy word for code) that will alow you to generate all of your newly spun articles.

Personally I hate spinning, the syntax gets confusing, it hurts my brain, I just don’t like to do it!

Normally, creating by hand all of the nested “or” statements is really a pain in the butt to do, but The Best Spinner does all of this for you.  It does this on the fly.  All of the needed spinning syntax is created for you, ready to be  pasted into your favorite article submitting software.

The true power of The Best Spinner however, lies in the back end database full of user contributed synonyms built from everyone else using the product.  As users of The Best Spinner add their own synonyms to the collective database, these alternative words and phrases are available for your to use in your articles.  This allows you to create very unique articles super fast.

One of my favorite features of The Best Spinner is the “Replace Everyone’s Favorites”.  Using this feature, you can replace the words or phrases in your article using those in the collective database from everyone else who uses the tool with the push of a button.  You can choose the quality level of the replacement, (good, better, best) but this also will effect how unique your spun articles will be – Best is less unique, Good is more unique.

So the big question is – “Is The Best Spinner really the best spinner?”

The short answer is absolutely.  The Best Spinner is not the complete answer to article re-writing.  It is still a good idea to paraphrase sentences or paragraphs to give your articles your own personal flair as well as uniqueness.  I also don’t like the annual recurring cost of the product.  You know that this time next year, anyone who still uses the product, will have an unknown bill come out of their paypal account because they forgot about the purchase.  I’d like to see a monthly recurring cost model instead.

Overall, TheBestSpinner is a fantastic product that should definitely be in your bag of tricks for publishing good content to the web.  At least worth a try at only $7 bucks.  Just remember, if you stop using the prodcut, cancel your subscription or you’ll find yourself out the $77 annual fee next year.

Side Note  – A Quick Take on Scribe.

Right now as I write this article I’m using another new plug-in called Scribe.  It’s in beta and is brand spanking new.  So far it looks really cool.

Scribe is an SEO optimizer for your blog, that plugs into WordPress and analyzes your articles to ensure each one is search engine optimized for the keywords you are intending to target.

Lately, the folks at Scribe have been going through some technical issues with their internet provider which in turn is causing issues with people using the plugin.  They are working through these issues and I will be writing another post on Scribe later.  So far I like it a lot.  But we shall see…

The SERPs are the true test. I’ll write more later

Cool Podcasts for Internet Business

Everyday I get up in the morning and drive to work.  For the 30-45 minutes each way to work, I sit in traffic and  need something to take my mind off of things… keep me motivated,  inspired and help me with my pre-occupation of making money online.

Last year, for my birthday my wife gave me an iPhone.  I was blown away but also very terrified.  Sure they’re cool and all,  but they are also pretty damn expensive!

“We can’t afford one of these things?!?! ”

Of course deep down inside  I was thrilled.  I love little gadgets like these and  I have to say I love my iPhone.

Since then I’ve been checking out the world of podcasts.  In the past I never really got the fascination with a podcast.  You download an mp3 to your iPod (mp3 player) and play it…  Whats the big deal?

Now that I have an iPhone/iPod, I never realized how easy  and convenient it was.  And there are some amazing podcasts floating around in the podcast world with some amazing information.  Amazing information for helping you succeed in your online business and its all for free!!

Some of My Favoriate Podcasts for Internet Business

I’d like to introduce you to some friends that keep me company on my commute to and from work.  These podcast are great for getting ideas and tips for your business.  Each one is inspiring,  motivating, as well as providing great updates on new technologies and how other bloggers and web site internet marketers are running their businesses.

Internet Business Mastery – This is hands down got to be the best podcast being produced for entrepreneurs starting an online business. Published every couple of weeks Jay and Sterling bring fantastic interviews with some of the biggest names in internet business.  They also share some of their own great tips on starting and running a successful business.  If you can only listen to one podcast to help you with your business, this needs to be the one you listen to!

Internet Marketing – This brilliant podcast is produced by Andy White and Kelvin Newman across the pond from the UK and Europe.  Their recent interviews with Seth Goden and Tim Ferris was as they say “brilliant”!  They also have lots of great tips on some of the latest technology available for your blog.

Press This – This is a more technical podcast that comes to us from The Netherlands where Joost de Valk (pronounced Yoast – like the word toast with a Y).  Joost is a fantastic developer of many well known plugins like Socialable and Google Analytics.  His podcast has some great interviews and discussions with other WordPress and plug-in developers, as well as SEO experts.

Late Night Internet Marketing – Mark Mason of MasonWorld.com produces this podcast clearly aimed at the part time marketer and blogger.  Great interviews and insights to blogging and running your business part time.

43 Folders – This is a new podcast I recently started listing to.  I found it through a search for Seth Goden interviews (I’m on a Seth Goden kick lately).  The interview was fantastic and I’m not a subscriber.

Duct Tape Marketing – Another great marketing related podcast that has some awesome interviews with top marketing folks.

And last but not least we can not forget Ed Dale and Lynn Terry’s Internet Marketing This Week podcast.  Both Ed and Lynn are amazing marketers and business owners.  There is a ton of great information on this podcast. You really need to check this one out.  I actually just re-discovered this podcast a little while ago.   I used to listen to this when it first came out and totally forgot about it — Bad Joe! Bad Joe!…. and thanks Lynn and Ed!

Well, that’s about it.  I’ve listened to a lot of other podcast programs but these are my favorites for sure.  These all have provided some great insight and inspiration for me in my business.

Are there any that I’ve missed?  Let me know… I’m always looking for cool stuff to listen while stuck in traffic.

ReviewAZON Review – Do We Really Need Another Amazon Plugin?

ReviewAZON ReviewI first heard about the ReviewAZON WordPress plugin almost a year ago.  Mark Hansen from NicheStoreBuilder.com had reviewed it and raved about it.  My first thought was “Do We Really Need Another Amazon Plugin?”  I mean really?  We have phpZon, Amazon Autoposter (now part of WPRobot), and more recently Affiliate Mage.  All of which work great for pulling in Amazon product listings to your blog.  Not to mention phpBay and phpOStock  used for eBay, and OverStock.com listings respectively. So, to make sense of it all I simply had to write my own review of ReviewAZON.

So whats so great about ReviewAZON?

I recently had the pleasure of being on a Web Conference with Brian Johnson of Commission Ritual and Brad Hanson, the creator of ReviewAZON, to find out for myself what was so cool about ReviewAZON.

Right away I could see the amazing appeal of this plugin.  The pages and posts it creates look very professional and just plain fantastic.  ReviewAZON can pull every bit of detail that Amazon has on its site for the product and lay it out perfectly for anyone wanting to setup a review type of web site.   The admin  interface is laid out very logically and includes some nice features making it immediately stand out from the crowd.

  • There is a built in search functionality that allows you to quickly find product items for your niche and add them to your pages or posts directly from Amazon.com without having to leave the admin page.
  • There is a nice templating feature that give you full control over the layout of the product listing.
  • Built-in SEO that allows for cloaking of all links and images pulled from Amazon.com
  • Support for multiple languages and international Amazon sites like Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.de
  • There is also built-in integration for both phpBay and phpOstock plugins!

With ReviewAZON, you can create three different types of posts,  a full post for the entire product, and an inline listing that embeds one product in to your existing post for a multi-inline listing embedding several products into your post.

Finally one of the best features in RreviewAZON is the bulk creation tool.

With the bulk creation tool you can search for products in your niche, hand pick the exact products for your reviews, each one creating a separate review post,  then either post them all immediately or drip them out to your website for a more natural (google friendly) growth.

The Web Conference was a little long, going over some tips and strategies for using ReviewAZON to promote Amazon.com products. There were several methods shown to clearly make money with Amazon.com.  Brad pointed out how you can use PPC to take advantage of trend based social events to put a site up quickly and get traffic there quickly without having to wait for your site to bubble up in the serps.  Brian, on the other hand, explained how to use organic traffic easily to be able to do the same thing only without the cost of PPC.  The difference is that organic traffic does take more time and that with PPC you can get your site in front of hungry buyers faster.

Toward the end of the call Brad did mention some new features that are going to be included in the next version (free for anyone who already owns the plugin).  The biggest feature to note will be the addition of product comparisons. This new feature will let you compare all of the Amazon stores together for a given product giving your readers the best price available for that product!  Pretty cool stuff.

Needless to say when the conference call was over I had to get ReviewAZON for myself.  For only $79 its a great buy! Right now, thanks to Brian Johnson and Brad,  if you purchase through my link you can get 35% off of the regular price of $79.  Thats $27.65 off right now. To get your discount click here and then use this special discount code for ReviewAZON at check out : brianjohnson35.

After I downloaded my copy of  ReviewAZON,  I tested it and was able to setup a full website of Amazon.com product listing in just minutes. And they looked amazing. Right now what I’m doing is now going back and adding ReviewAZON to all of my sites.

If you are an Amazon.com affiliate or would like a great way to promote products on Amazon.com you really need to check out some of the videos that are out on Brads ReviewAZON site and see how cool it looks for yourself.

Again check out the videos and get the 35% discount.  From what I understand it’s only for a limited time so if you are considering it you may want to take advantage as soon as you can.

Again, click here and enter the code brianjohnson35

If you do buy it, or if you already have it, let us know what you think of ReviewAZON.  Like it? Love it?  Hate It?  Let us know I’d love to hear what you think of it and how your using it.

Review Commission Ritual – Brian Johnson

Review Commission Ritual – Brian Johnson

commission ritualHey guys and Happy New Year.  It’s been a busy beginning of 2010 for me that’s for sure… and long while since I’ve posted here on my blog.  I hope you’re doing good in your businesses and things are looking up for you!

In thie past several weeks I’ve been refocusing on affiliate marketing and looking at my webs ites to see what can be done to better target buying customers and improve conversions.  Of course more traffic is always helpful, but if that traffic doesn’t convert you don’t make any money so then all of your work is wasted.

To help me refocus, I’ve been using a product released by my good friend Brian Johnson called Commission Ritual.  He released Commission Ritual back in July (I think) and I’ve been wanting to check it out ever since the launch.  Well I finally got around to it and man am I amazed! For $4.95 you just can’t beat the great material you get.

I first learned about Brian almost 2 years ago when I came across a video he had done where he talked about the success he was getting using an ebay affiliate software called Build A Niche Store (BANS).

A lot has changed since then, BANS is gone, but Brian is continuing time and time again to release really excellent material to help me (and a lot of other people) make money online.

The first product I ever purchased from Brian was SEO Press Formula.  This was an awesome set of videos that walked you through setting up your WordPress website and showed you how to get it complete optimized for search engines.  I still use the information he taught in that product to this day!  SEO Press Formula was well worth the investment.

This past July Brian released Commission Ritual and again he hits home with money making information for affiliate marketers.  As I mentioned earlier the price for Commission Ritual is $4.95 which is amazingly cheap for the amount of material he gives you.  Don’t be fooled though, there is a rebill of $92 bucks seven days later – but for the first week you get a chance to be enlightened to how you can turn your existing websites around using his method and start earning more commissions.

He also goes through how to set up groups of websites for maximum commission and income.  He reviews how to find keyword rich domain names, how to target buying keywords, as well as includes lots of optimized themes for wordpress to get a jump start on bringing in organic traffic.

Commission Ritual is a full coarse on setting up and optimizing affiliate websites with wordpress using organic search engine traffic. This is turn is used to help you make money using either eBay, Amazon, Commission Junction or any other affiliate network you want to subscribe to.

The one draw back I would say to the program is that it is focused around WordPress so if you build sites using straight html you may find yourself wanting a different product. The product is focused at the less technical folks too so if your an experienced marketer some of the material you may already know.

I have many many affiliate web sites and the material here has really helped boost my traffic by increasing my  organic search ranking in the search engines.

Commission Ritual has a ton of video instruction for you to follow that leads you every step of the way. He also has a nice active user forum called the commission ritual inner circle membership with well over 1000 posts to help answer any questions you may have (and Brian is there and answers them himself).

Brian has really helped me and my business make money online and he can help you too.  Check out Commission Ritual… for $4.95 (less than the price of a burger at Wendy’s) you can see for yourself and put some of his tips to use.  I think you will be pleasantly surprised in the (search) results!

Check it out here – Commission Ritual

I was recently on a conference call with Brian Johnson and Brad Hansen from ReviewAzon which was really cool. Needless to say next week I will be doing a review of Brad’s ReviewAZON plugin for WordPress and how I’m using it to build some awesome looking affiliate sites in just minutes!
